The Journalists Series

Context: On October 2, 2018, a 59-year-old Saudi journalist entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey, and was never to be seen alive again. According to accounts, which eventually came to light, the expatriated Saudi journalist was “ambushed, suffocated, and dismembered” (Sakelaris, 2019) by a team of 15 men orchestrated at the behest of the Saudi government. His name was Jamal Khashoggi. I became an advocate for journalists’ rights because of him.
